Another stretch goal down! Just 30 hours left!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Jun 15, 2023 at 10:45:27 AM

We are entering the home stretch!

With just 30 hours left, we are delighted to see another stretch goal smashed by you, our fantastic supporters. This is an important one for us, as we all understand how much value additional modern, full-colour imagery will add to the journals. We will be able to use some of the extra funds raised during this campaign to pay for that upgrade, and we know readers will love it.

As ever, here's Danny with a little behind-the-scenes discussion on another interesting firearm featured within the pages of Armax:

Also, in case you missed it, here’s CFM Curator Danny Michael’s special update video for their social media pages, in which he briefly examines the Adirondack rifles (also featured in Armax): https://www.facebook.com/CodyFirearmsMuseum/videos/803029974419426/

As we enter the very last part of this campaign, we have three requests for each of you. Please consider helping us out by:

  • 1. Sharing the link to this campaign with your networks. This could be Facebook, Twitter, a gun collectors’ forum, Reddit, LinkedIn, or anywhere else. The link is: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/armax/armax/
  • 2. Sending us a question for the livestream tomorrow! We will share joining details soon, but in the meantime, please comment here with any questions or email us at: [email protected]
  • 3. Take a moment to stop and appreciate what you have helped us achieve by supporting this project. Reprinting these important journals means a lot to all of us working at Armax, the CFM, and Helios House Press—and none of it would have been possible without you. You should feel proud of your contribution!

Thanks as always,

Final week, new add-on, and we've reached the first stretch goal!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Jun 12, 2023 at 04:36:33 PM

Hello everyone,

We are in our last week of the campaign now, and have a few exciting developments to share.

First, we are thrilled to report that we reached our first stretch goal! For this one, we are going to hold a livestream event with Cody Firearms Museum Curator Danny Michael and Armax Editor N.R. Jenzen-Jones. They will share some of their personal insights into the project, and answer your burning questions about the reprints or about the modern Armax. Since this is the final week and we feel like celebrating, we decided to schedule the livestream as a countdown to the end of the campaign.

This means the livestream will be held this Friday, 16 June, starting at 7:30pm EDT/5:30pm MDT/4:30pm PDT. Nic and Danny will share some background and answer your questions, we'll count down to the close of our campaign, and then we can wrap up after that with any last topics. If you have any questions about the reprints project or Armax in general that you'd like to have answered, feel free to email us ahead of time at [email protected]. You will also have the opportunity to submit questions through the chat function during the livestream. We will send an update later in the week with a link to use to join the livestream on Friday.

In celebrating our funding and ongoing stretch goal milestones, the CFM and Helios House Press have decided to add an extra item to the add-ons section of the campaign, at a very steep discount. This is the exhibition catalogue for Primary & Secondary: Unravelling Firearms Mysteries Through Documentary Evidence, a CFM exhibit curated by Danny Michael and N.R. Jenzen-Jones. This was originally scheduled through Fall 2022, but has been very well received and thus extended through the end of 2023. It's full of fascinating stories highlighting the strong connection between physical objects and the information sources researchers use to better understand them. Perfect for both those who have enjoyed the exhibition in Cody and firearms scholars and enthusiasts who are unable to be there in person, we are offering the detailed, full-colour catalogue as an add-on here for only $22, which is about 40% off the regular sale price! Here is Danny with a little more information:

In addition to commentary and introductory remarks from Danny and Nic, the catalogue also contains contributions from a number of arms researchers, including Jonathan Ferguson, Ben Nicholson, Matthew Moss, Justin Baird, and Dan Shuey. Over 118 full-colour pages, the catalogue presents firearms from the CFM collection alongside examples of real-world sources that have helped unlock their past. The catalogue is specifically design to be a stand-alone resource, presenting an interesting exploration of arms research that does not require the reader to have attended the exhibition.

You can adjust your pledge to include a copy of Primary & Secondary if you are interested, and if you find yourself in the Cody area, you can still go see the exhibition itself through the end of the year!

Thanks again for all of your support!

Best,

Funded! PLUS Behind-the-Scenes: How to Disassemble your W.A.R.
over 1 year ago – Wed, Jun 07, 2023 at 04:16:30 PM

Well, you guys did it! A thousand 'thank yous' from all of us at Armax, the CFM, and Helios House Press. This has been a dream project for the team since we re-launched the journal in 2021, and we are absolutely thrilled to see the Kickstarter cross the funding goal with time to spare.

Of course, this is only our minimum funding goal (just enough to get the books into print), and we would love to be able to do more with the remastered version of Vols. I through VI. In particular, we would like to add more original photographs (both by paying for new photography, and licensing existing images) into every issue. As Danny suggests in the video below, maybe we could even include a modern disassembly guide to one of the weapons covered in the journal...

We have some other fun stretch goals in mind, too, so please do keep sharing! Got a favourite blog, magazine, or YouTube that hasn't helped us spread the word yet? Let them know about the campaign! We know there are thousands of people who will want these journals, but most don't know this is even happening.

Here is Danny with another fascinating behind-the-scenes video for you guys. This time he is down in the CFM vaults presenting a 14-minute, detailed dive into the disassembly of the Winchester Automatic Rifle (W.A.R.), something that I am sure is new for almost everyone.

That's it for now, but we will have more interesting videos soon.

Until next time,

Inches away
over 1 year ago – Tue, Jun 06, 2023 at 04:22:31 PM

Hello,

By the time some of you are reading this, we will probably have met our funding goal, that's how close we are! With a week and a half to go on this campaign, we are inches away right now, and we are so grateful. This isn't the end though.

Our funding goal represents the minimum to be able to bring this project to life but the further we can go in surpassing the goal, the more we will be able to do with the Armax reprints: more behind-the-scenes conversations, more new photography to enhance the original articles, and more tricks up our sleeve for later if the campaign can keep growing. So keep sharing with your friends and colleagues, consider upgrading your pledge or adding on one of our add-on items, and if you're on the fence, consider backing us before Friday 16 June, when the campaign ends.

But whether you have pledged or not,  check out the video below from CFM Curator Danny Michael highlighting a really unique prototype weapon, and make sure you stay tuned through the end for a teaser on what he's going to share next after we've met the funding goal!

We are so thrilled that you have put us in a position to be able to make this project, which has truly been a dream of the Armax editorial team, a reality, and we know you are going to love the end product.

Thank you again,
